THIS IS MIKE STUD, a new eight-episode docu-series premiering tonight, June 21 at 10 PM ET/PT on Esquire Network, will go behind the scenes, into the hilarious and entertaining life of Mike Stud, a Duke educated, former All-American baseball player who unexpectedly turned to music after an injury robbed him of his lifelong dream to play pro ball. Viewers will come along for the wild ride during Mike's nation-wide Back2You tour as he and his loyal pack of lifelong friends navigate life on the road all while holding it together in the mercilessly harsh yet wildly exhilarating journey to BECOMING a superstar. What's most impressive of all, Mike has done it entirely independently- no labels, just him and the variously talented 'cast of characters' that live with him, work with him, and ultimately rely on him for their livelihood.
MEET THE CREW:
MIKE STUD
Michael Francis Seander, Jr., better known as Mike Stud is a Duke educated, former All-American baseball player who unexpectedly turned to music after an injury robbed him of his lifelong dream to play pro ball. Now, Mike Stud can be seen at the top of the Billboard and iTunes charts as he continues to build his brand in the most unconventional way -- as an unsigned artist, heavily relying on social media to build awareness, sell tickets and engage with fans around the world. In just five short years, Mike Stud has garnered over 60 million views on YouTube, released three #1 Hip-Hop Albums on iTunes, and headlined three notoriously 'wild' national tours. His music first received notice with the rap single, "College Humor," in 2010, which he recorded as a joke. The video was a huge viral success, racking up over 1.5 million views. Mike's music career took off quickly: He released his first mix tape, A Toast to Tommy, in October 2011. In May 2013, Stud's debut studio album, Relief debuted at 109 on the Billboard 200 chart and peaked at 55. But the biggest move from the former pitcher-turned rapper came when Mike Stud hit No. 1 on Billboard's Rap charts with his 2014 2ndalbum, Closer, which received over 1.4 million Youtube views for the title track. His Youtube channel has passed 135K subscribers, and he recently dropped his third album, "These Days" which landed him #1 on iTunes Hip Hop charts.
MATT "BLUE" OUELLET - The Best Friend / Hype Man Blue and Mike have
been best friends since they were young. Blue is on Mike's fulltime payroll and while he can pick up groceries or make a dinner reservation, he is not an assistant, rather a most trusted confidant and ally for Mike (or so says Mike). Blue is the first to say his ambitions are to stay with Mike all the way to the top. But in the meantime, and when not getting obscenely drunk on tour, Blue doesn't really have much to do. Blue seems to be at a turning point in his life where he needs to find a purpose, what that is we will have to see.
JON KILMER AKA "KILMER THE FILMER" - Tour Documentarian
Jon Kilmer is the co-creator and producer of the web series "Touring's Boring" which inspired "This Is Mike Stud." Some of Jon's favorites things are falling in love with a NEW GIRL every week, playing with puppies, hooking up with girls at after parties and enduring hours of strength training and core exercises while inebriated. His goal is to live the "American Dream," and one day move into the Playboy Mansion. Kilmer has moved out to LA with Mike and is getting closer to his goals. Kilmer is recently single and splits his day between SURFING multiple online dating apps and watching "The OC" and "Gossip Girl."
DJ FADER - DJ & Tour Manager
His name is Nick but everyone calls him Fader. He is from Cranston, RI and he grew up about half a mile from Mike. Fader is Mike's DJ and production manager and has been with him since day one. When he is not on the road with them, he likes to stay low key at home with his girlfriend Elyse and their two French Bulldogs, DJ and Winnie. Fader is a huge goof but when it comes down to it, he gets the job done. As DJ and tour manager, Fader juggles multiple balls. While he tries his best to be on top of everything, he usually falls short as enjoying drinks with their legions of fans post show always seems to supersede his responsibilities as tour manager.
GERRY CORCORAN- Tour Manager
As The newest member to the crew, Gerry joined the team last summer to book after-parties and after quickly endearing himself to Mike and the team, he was brought on an "almost" fulltime basis as the assistant / tour manager. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Gerry now lives in West Hollywood, California where he strives to attain his "personal legend" on a daily basis. When he isn't diligently working to help further the career of his friend Mike, Gerry can be found trying to keep Kilmer, Foley and Blue out of trouble. Always one to be trusted and loyal to a fault, however Gerry's loud mouth antics often times lands him in trouble with the others.
PATRICK "PADDY" QUINN - Director
Paddy is a LA-based Film and TV writer/director who shot Mike Stud's first two music videos and has since worked with/consulted him in most creative capacities throughout his entire music career. He and Mike grew up in the same area and played baseball together since they were kids. In his 7+ years in Los Angeles, Paddy helmed a successful online series called MASSHOLES which was the first web-series ever to be sold to Network Television. He wrote, directed, and starred in an independent feature film called HEY BROTHER due out in 2016. And in 2013, he began filming on tour with Mike. While Paddy's primary ambition is to become a top-tier filmmaker, his close relationship and collaborative history with Mike is bringing him on tour to creatively oversee and consult across Mike's entire operation.
BEN FOLEY - Creative Director, Photographer and Designer Foley is Avid
medical marijuana patient. As the youngest member of the Mike Stud crew, Foley has been involved since age 16. Born in Massachusetts, he dropped out of school in the sixth grade, attended Emerson College for five weeks at the age of 15, then moved to New York City at 16. He joined forces with Mike Stud because he gets to do what he wants to with his life. Now 21 years old, he has been residing in LA for the last year. Ben can be seen getting wasted on stage and picking up different groupies. As he puts it, "Basically, my life is dope and I do dope s."
JOSIE CANSECO - Model/Mike Stud's Girlfriend
Josie Canseco is a 19 year-old model and the daughter of former MLB power hitter Jose Canseco. Josie and Mike have been dating for six months and, for the first time since BECOMING a famous rapper, Mike will go on tour with a serious girlfriend waiting for him at home. We will see Josie throughout the series on FaceTime calls and at various stops along the way where she will join the tour with Mike and the rest of the crew. Josie has most recently been featured on VH1's "Hollywood Exes" with her mother Jessica Canseco.
Underneath the hysterical and good-natured 'boys will be boys' shenanigans is an underdog story of how in the face of heart-breaking disappointment, Mike has jumped at a SECOND CHANCE to live a charmed life. This hustling entrepreneur is banking on a serendipitous opportunity while bringing his friends on his crazy journey. With exclusive access to Mike's 40-city "Back2You Tour" across North America, Esquire Network will follow Mike and his entourage of friends turned collaborators as they embark on their most substantial endeavor to date, all in the wake of Mike's latest album release.
Follow the crazy ride when "This Is Mike Stud" premieres Tuesday, June 21 at 10 PM ET/PT on Esquire Network.
