Based on a novel by Japanese author Shusaku Endo, "Silence" centers on two Portuguese Jesuit priests, portrayed by Driver and Garfield, who must contend with various forms of persecution, including torture, while traveling through Japan to proselytize locals and track down their mentor, played by Neeson.
