EBOLA SURVIVOR Dr. Richard Sacra wants to return to Liberia, where he was infected with the deadly virus, he told CBS THIS MORNING (7:00-9:00 AM) in an interview that was broadcast today, Oct. 24, 2014, on the CBS Television Network.

"I'm praying about early next year, if the Lord will give me my strength back," Sacra told CBS News Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Jon LaPook.

Sacra talked with LaPook about returning to the United States after learning he was infected, about being able to hug his wife again, and his current health.

Sacra also told LaPook how he believed he caught the virus.

"I was working in a hospital. I was not working in the EBOLA unit. Some of pregnant women we took care of were very sick. None of them had all the signs and symptoms of Ebola, but some of them had been in labor for a week," Sacra told LaPook.

"This particular one, who I think was the most likely, was actually HIV positive but didn't know it," Sacra added, "But I now suspect that she also had come down with EBOLA and didn't know that, either."

Excerpts from the interview are below:

DR. JONATHAN LAPOOK: Can you figure out how you got Ebola?

DR. RICHARD SACRA: I was working in a hospital. I was not working in the EBOLA unit. Some of pregnant women we took care of were very sick. None of them had all the signs and symptoms of Ebola, but some of them had been in labor for a week.

LAPOOK: You're treating a pregnant woman, and you didn't suspect that she had Ebola?

SACRA: This particular one, who I think was the most likely, was actually HIV positive but didn't know it. But I now suspect that she also had come down with EBOLA and didn't know that, either.
