'Sex Tape' star Cameron Diaz cut short a call-in inteview with Australia's KIIS 106.5's Kyle & Jackie O show, following a negative remark made by DJ Kyle Sandilands about the actor's close friend Drew Barrymore. Listen to the interview below
The controversy began when host Jackie O noted that Diaz's on-screen daughter Giselle Eisenberg resembled Barrymore in 1982's E.T. "She does, now that you mention it," responded Diaz, "And she's as bright and lively as Drew is, as well. She's a sweet little girl."
Sandilands joined the conversation by commenting, "Let's hope she misses out on the Drew Barrymore drug years, because those were a great thing to watch, but not so good to be in, I'd imagine."
Annoyed by the remark, Diaz snapped back, "I'm sure, Kyle, you've never been through a drug phase, have you? Or alcoholism or anything like that? Pretty clean; always did it right? Congratulations."
Sandilands continued to tick off the actress by pressing her for details on her romantic relationship with rocker Benji Madden and her co-star Jason Segel's recent weight loss. "We're having to go now," said Diaz. "Sorry, they're wrapping us up."
Following the interview's abrupt ending, Sandilands quipped, "Maybe they should've just bought ads if they wanted to sell the movie."
