Ann Romney, wife of former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, said that there's a "breach of trust that all Americans feel right now with our government," in an interview that was broadcast live today, May 30, 2013 on CBS This Morning (7:00-9:00AM) on the CBS Television Network. Watch the appearance in full below!
"We have to believe that they're doing right for us," she told Co-Hosts Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell. "When we feel like they're breaking our trust, it's deeply troubling."
Looking ahead to the 2016 presidential race, Romney said, "Mitt and I always very, very partial to Paul Ryan."
Romney said that she has "no regrets" about her husband's run for presidential office, adding that the "most frustrating" thing about the campaign was that there was "so much negative involved with it."
Romney said that if any of her sons ever told her they wanted to enter politics, "I'd really have to think about it," adding, "it's a very tough environment to be involved in right now. And that's a sad commentary."
A partial transcript of the interview is below.
NORAH O'DONNELL: Can you discuss the range of emotions because you were obviously very sad immediately after and then in an interview you did on FOX you seemed angry. How do you feel now?
ANN ROMNEY: Oh I don't know if I was angry. I think I was frustrated maybe - but now, happy. I'm really happy with my life. I'm really happy. You know I think it's hard what the country is going through right now. You know there is a breach of trust that we all as Americans feel with the government.
