VAMPIRE DIARIES is Ratings Win for The CW

Last night's THE VAMPIRE DIARIES scored solid gains week to week in key demos, up 5% in women 18-34 (2.0/7), up 8% in adults 18-49 (1.3/4) and up 6% in women 18-49 (1.7/5), and it was up 3% in total viewers (2.7M), according to preliminary Live Plus Same Day Nielsen ratings for Thursday, March 22, 2012. It was even in adults 18-34 (1.4/5).

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES was also up versus the equivalent episode last year (4/7/2011), up 17% in adults 18-34, up 5% in women 18-34, up 8% in adults 18-49 and up 6% in women 18-49.

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES ranked #2 in the 8-9 p.m. hour among women 18-34, and again out-rated ABC's Missing in adults 18-34.

It was THE VAMPIRE DIARIES best performance among women 18-34 since 1/5/12.

THE SECRET CIRCLE was also up week to week in total viewers (1.7M), with its most watched episode since 2/9/12, and held even in key demos. Versus its time period last year (Nikita, 4/7/2011), it was up in women 18-34 (0.9/3) and women 18-49 (1.0/3).

The CW was #2 (tie) from 8-10 p.m. last night among women 18-34 (1.5/5), with its best Thursday night among young women since 1/5/12.

This season, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES averages a 30% gain in total viewers when Live + 7 data is counted, versus Live + Same Day, a 43% increase in women 18-34 and a 37% jump in adults 18-34. THE SECRET CIRCLE jumps 48% in women 18-34, 45% in adults 18-34 and 36% in total viewers.
