Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo are reteaming.
Known as playing Clark and Ellen Griswold in National Lampoon's 'VACATION' films, the pair are currently developing a comedy pilot at ABC for the 2015-16 season, according to Deadline.
The single-camera comedy "would star Chase and D'Angelo as a married couple in their 60s who ware finally enjoying their golden years. They have raised their daughter who is a grown woman and now lives on the other side of the country with her two kids and that's the way they like it - these selfish grandparents now only need to see their grandchildren a couple of times a year. But, due to circumstances beyond their control, they are now forced to raise their grandchildren."
The project stems from Aaron Kaplan, who reached out to D'Angelo, who then in turn reached out to Chase. ABC reportedly scooped up the idea immediately.
The Griswold family became a household name with the first entry into the franchise, NATIONAL LAMPOON's VACATION in 1983. It went on to spawn the sequels CHRISTMAS VACATION and VEGAS VACATION.
Should the project be ordered to series, it would mark Chase's return to television since he left NBC's cult hit COMMUNITY.
