Univision Communications Launches Comprehensive Election Coverage 'Destino 2016'

"DESTINO 2016" - TELEVISION

Titled "Destino 2016" (Destiny 2016), Univision News' dedicated election coverage will encompass all news programming on the Univision Network, including the network newscast "Noticiero Univision," the Sunday political show "Al Punto" (To the Point), the morning show "Despierta América" (Wake Up America), and the newsmagazines "Primer Impacto" (First Impact) and "Aquí y Ahora" (Here and Now). From the first caucus in Iowa through Election Day on November 8, 2016, Univision News' award-winning team of anchors, reporters and producers will focus intensively on the presidential run, delivering on-site coverage of primary elections in key states, campaign news, and important national events such as Super Tuesday, the Republican and Democratic conventions, and presidential debates. Nightly news briefs and special editions of Univision news shows will also air as part of the coverage.

Additionally, the network will host a number of events featuring presidential candidates in the coming months, among them the Democratic debate scheduled for March 9th in Miami and a presidential candidates' forum at the LULAC National Convention and Exposition in July 2016. It will also conduct exclusive national and local polls. On Election Night, Univision will provide wall-to-wall coverage of nationwide developments as they occur, offering its viewers nonstop information, analysis and commentary throughout the night. "Destino 2016" national coverage will be led by Univision News anchors Jorge Ramos, María Elena Salinas, Enrique Acevedo, Ilia Calderón, Arantxa Loizaga, Felix de Bedout, Luis Megid and Blanca Rosa Vilchez.

At the local level, Univision broadcast affiliates across the nation will provide their communities with up-to-the-minute coverage of the complete election process, campaign news and local political events. In addition, a local edition of Univision's successful Sunday political show "Al Punto" will debut in Florida, "Al Punto Florida," to cover statewide politics and public affairs issues, while existing local public affairs shows will do the same in Texas and California ("Conexión Texas" and "Conexión California").

Specific details of "Destino 2016" programming and debates will be released at a later date.

UCI's most extensive digital election coverage to date will provide a centralized resource that puts events and developments in context for Hispanic audiences via the largest Spanish-language digital platforms in the U.S. - Univision.com and UnivisionNoticias.com.
