UPDATE: 12:00 pm/ET: Lady Gaga's press representative Amanda Silverman has released a statement to USA Today negating reports that Lady Gaga will star as British singer Cilla Black in a biopic picture centered around Dionne Warwick.

Commented Silverman: "Lady Gaga is not attached and will not appear in this project. Reports of Gaga starring in this project are false."

Billboard reports that Destiny's Child's LeToya Luckett will take on the role of Dionne Warwick in an upcoming biopic. The legendary R & B singer announced the project today at the Cannes Film Festival. Lady Gaga is also set to star in the film as late British singer Cilla Black, whom Warwick describes as the villain of the piece because "she stole my music!" Danny Glover and Olympia Dukakis will also appear.

The film will be based on Warwick's memoir "My Life As I See It," and will center on the years 1962 through 1968. Randall Jahnson penned the screenplay for the film.

"She is perfect and she has exactly the right look," the five-time Grammy Award winner said about Luckett playing a younger version of her. "She will bring out what is needed for this part."

Warwick is best known for her hits "I Say a Little Prayer," "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" and the 1987 charity single "That's What Friends Are For," recorded with Elton John, Gladys Knight and Stevie Wonder. The latter raised millions for AIDS research foundation AmFAR.

Known for her long-time collaboration with songwriters Bacharach and Hal David, Warwick had 69 singles on the charts between 1962 and 1998, and is the second most-charted female vocalist of all time on the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Singles Charts.
