Tyler Perry has been announced as the title character in "I, Alex Cross" as reported by Variety. Rob Cohen will direct the project which currently does not have a release date.
The movie tells the story of the detective/psychologist originally created by James Patterson and portrayed by Morgan Freeman in "Kiss the Girls" and "Along Came a Spider."
Perry recently toured the country in his play "Madea's Big Happy Family" and has made two films featuring Madea, a character he originally created on stage. His film version of the Broadway play "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf..." will be released on DVD February 8th, 2011.
