From Columbus, Ohio to Guerrero, Mexico and countless cities in between, the opioid epidemic has ravaged communities on both sides of the border. On Friday, March 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, the finale of SHOWTIME's "The Trade" strives to find hope and closure for the stories highlighted throughout the season.
In Columbus, Sergeant Nate Smith zeroes in on a dealer mixing heroin with lethal Fentanyl, and also helps recovering addicts get treatment. In Mexico, Don Miguel finds himself trapped in the drug trade, while Mario, a young activist, looks for his missing brother. Back in Atlanta, Skyler signs himself up for long-term treatment but struggles to follow through.
Directed and executive produced by Oscar nominee and Emmy® winner Matthew Heineman (Cartel Land) along with executive producer and showrunner Pagan Harleman, "The Trade" seeks to break through the simplistic and often erroneously counterproductive assumptions surrounding the opioid phenomenon by spotlighting those caught in the crisis: friends and neighbors, sisters, and brothers.
