As the Trinity Broadcasting Network makes preparations for its historic "Grace 16" tour of Israel and the Holy Land early next year, the global Christian television leader is re-affirming its forty-two-year friendship with and support for the nation and people of Israel.
Hosted by TBN's Matthew and Laurie Crouch and featuring the powerful grace teachings of popular TBN ministry partner Joseph Prince, "G16" as the upcoming ten-day tour has been dubbed is expected to be one of the largest Holy Land tours in history. Mr. Crouch noted that since its launch in 1973, TBN has hosted over thirty memorable Holy Land tours, many of them led by TBN founders Paul and Jan Crouch.
Mr. Crouch said that for Christians, a trip to the Holy Land is about more than rest and relaxation. "When my parents began leading groups to the Holy Land over forty years ago, it wasn't just for a great vacation," he said. "They were taking seriously God's promise that He would bless those who bless His people Israel. And every group TBN has taken over the years has gone, not just to experience the land of the Bible, but to actively support, pray for, and bless the land of Israel and its people."
During a recent private meeting with Israel's Minister of Tourism, Dr. Uzi Landau, TBN board member Colby May was apprised of some of the current challenges facing Israel on a number of fronts, and of the crucial importance for the global Christian community to stand strong in its commitment to Israel. "We are deeply grateful for the friendship and commitment TBN has shown to Israel over the past four decades," Dr. Landau said, "and for your ongoing role in encouraging Christians both in America and around the world to stand in solidarity for a strong, safe, and enduring Israel."
Uri Steinberg, the North American Commissioner for the Israel Ministry of Tourism, said that the Evangelical Christian community's ongoing solidarity with Israel and its support for tourism in the country has been very important, adding that "we affirm the longstanding commitment and leadership of TBN in this regard."
In response Mr. May emphasized that, as it has since its beginnings, TBN would continue with an unwavering commitment to the nation and people of Israel, demonstrated in a number of ways, including:
"Throughout our nearly forty-two year history, supporting, blessing, and praying for the nation and people of Israel have been foundational to TBN's mission of broadcasting the gospel of Jesus Christ," said Mr. May. "Our founder, Dr. Paul Crouch, was convinced that such a posture was integral to TBN's success and future. And we continue to wholeheartedly embrace that conviction."
