24x36: A Movie About Movie Posters is a documentary that explores the birth, death and recent resurrection of illustrated movie poster art. Through interviews with key art personalities from the past four decades, director Kevin Burke's film aims to answer the question: What happened to the illustrated movie poster, why did it disappear, and what's brought it back? 24x36 features interviews with iconic artists David Byrd, Roger Kastel, and William Stout; contemporary designers including Daniel Danger, Tim Doyle, Justin Erickson, Gary Pullin, Paige Reynolds, Akiko Stehrenberger and Tom Whalen; gallery owners and creative directors like Mondo's Rob Jones and Mitch Putnam, and Hollywood Canteen's Mike Orlando; and filmmakers like Joe Dante.
"24 x 36 celebrates THE ART OF the movie poster and the artists who so deftly translate films into iconic images that capture our imagination," said Monica Bloom, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Tribeca Shortlist. "This film is a perfect fit for our curated collection of films. The passion we see in 24x36-of designers and collectors sharing and celebrating both classic and new movie art-is the same passion that Tribeca Shortlist and its members have for great movies, old and new, across all genres."
24x36: A Movie About Movie Posters was directed by Kevin Burke, produced by David Lawson Jr., Graham Lee, co-produced by Kevin Burke, Andrea Butler, Richard Chan, and executive produced by Matthew Chojnacki, Jared Dobbs, Wendy Donnan, Mike Gregory, Travis Stevens and Stephanie Trepanier.
