Have you ever wondered what it would be like to travel like POTUS? Or an icon? Or a movie star? With the launch of Travel Channel's newest limited series of specials, under the banner "Travel Like...," you will finally get to peek behind the curtain and find out. The Network will launch its first "Travel Like..." special with the original one-hour special "Travel Like a President," hosted by NBC News Correspondent Peter Alexander. Premiering tonight, October 2 at 8:00 p.m., ET/PT, the program will transport viewers to Air Force One and beyond, showcasing the behind the scenes efforts needed for the commander-in-chief's demanding travel schedule. From the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, where every president has stayed since Herbert Hoover, to President Barack Obama's homecoming in Hawaii, "Travel Like a President" showcases a seldom seen perspective on travel. The announcement was made today by Andy Singer, General Manager, Travel Channel.

"We are excited about the 'Travel Like...' umbrella series as we will have the opportunity to explore and share many unique travel experiences from a fresh and unexpected perspective," said Singer. "Our first special, 'Travel Like a President,' is designed to give viewers an all-access, unprecedented look at the enormous level of detail and thought that comes with the territory when you are the leader of the free world. It's meant to be informative yet entertaining...and perhaps inspire our viewers to embark on their very own presidential trip."

"Travel Like a President" takes viewers behind closed doors to reveal what is needed to move our country's leader from place to place. We hear directly from previous administration insiders for former Presidents George W. H. Bush, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and President Obama, including Andy Card (Chief of Staff 2001 - 2006), Mike McCurry (White House Press Secretary 1995-1998), Eric Lesser (Asst. of David Axelrod 2009 - 2011), Gregg Pitts (Director of White House Travel 2005 - 2009) and Dan Bongino (Secret Service 1999 - 2011), about the special reveals, precautions and countless details that must be painstakingly planned prior to each trip. On a typical presidential trip, as many as 200 hotel rooms must be booked, along with two jumbo 747s, two passenger jets, five helicopters, 35 motorcade vehicles and charter flights for the press. Hundreds of people are involved with the preparation and logistics of the president's travel - from the administration's senior advisors to the Secret Service, Travel Office, Military Office and medical teams, these individuals must work as one, to ensure the president's travel runs as efficiently as possible.

Future specials in development include "Travel Like an Icon" (wt) and "Travel Like a Movie Star" (wt), which will explore travel through the eyes of international personalities, ranging from celebrities, rock musicians, moguls and top actors, who will share travel stories, tips, and memories that have shaped their lives on the road for both work and play.

"Travel Like a President" is produced by Peacock Productions for Travel Channel. For Peacock Productions, the senior producer is Loren Michelman and the producer is Mark Marabella. The executive producer for Travel Channel is Julie Rose McCully.
