Deadline reports that Tony winner Dan Fogler (Broadway's The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) will take over a co-starring role in ABC's new midseason drama series SECRETS & LIES. The role was previously cast with actor Clifton Collins Jr.
Starring Ryan Phillippe as Ben, the show centers on "a family man who finds the body of a young boy and quickly becomes the prime murder suspect." Fogler will portray Dave, described as "a faded musician who can't quite get his act together and lives in Ben and wife Christy's (KaDee Strickland's) guest house. He lives a cheerfully irresponsible life, has a great sense of humor and no filter. He suffers from a Peter Pan/never-grew-up syndrome but is a fundamentally a good guy and is unwavering in his support of Ben and his family."
Juliette Lewis, Indiana Evans, Charles Dutton, Kate Ashfield also will appear in the series.
Fogler became well-known mostly after his Tony Award winning performance as William Barfée in the Broadway show The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Fogler's film credits include Balls of Fury, Good Luck Chuck, Fanboys, and Take Me Home Tonight. He is a voice actor in the 2008 animated films Horton Hears a Who! and Kung Fu Panda.Videos
