Tony Nominee Billy Magnussen Joins Cast of Disney's Live-Action ALADDIN

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tony nominee Billy Magnussen has joined the cast of Disney's live-action ALADDIN movie in the role of Prince Anders. The character did not appear in the studio's 1992 animated picture. According to the site, Anders will compete with Aladdin to win the heart of Princess Jasmine. No further details have been revealed.

Magnussen's role marks the second character created specifically for the upcoming film. As reported earlier, SNL alum Nasim Pedrad will portray the original character Mara, a handmaiden and friend to Jasmine.

The Guy Ritchie will helm the movie starring newcomer Mena Massoud as the street rat turned prince. Naomi Scott will play Princess Jasmine, while Marwan Kenzari (Murder on the Orient Express) portraying the villain Jafar and Will Smith playing Genie.

Magnussen starred in Rob Marshall's big screen adaptation of INTO THE WOODS as Rapunzel's prince, performing the duet "Agony" with actor Chris Pine.His film credits include Ingrid Goes West, Steven Spielberg's Bridge of Spies and Adam McKay's The Big Short. Magnussen's small-screen work includes Netflix's Black Mirror, Epix's GET SHORTY and FX's The People v. O.J. Simpson, in which he played Kato Kaelin.

The actor received a Tony nomination for his role as 'Spike' in Broadway's VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE. He also appeared in 2007's THE RITZ.
