Tony Danza to Go Behind-the-Scenes of Carson's 'Tonight Show' in New Series THERE'S JOHNNY!

Television icon Tony Danza, has boarded Seeso's straight to series project, THERE'S JOHNNY!, about the behind the scenes of another tv's icons hit-show, Johnny Carson's The Tonight Show. The new series was created by Mad About You creator and star, Paul Reiser, and David Steven Simon (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Mad About You), who exec produce with David Gordon Green, who is also directing the first episode.

Danza will play Fred de Cordova, the legendary Exec Producer of The Tonight Show. Danza has a special connection to the role, as he was a frequent guest of Carson's and even guest hosted the show multiple times.

Danza has been a hot commodity lately with several projects eyeing to mark his return to television. Last year he was pursued for several pilots and starred in NBC/CBS Studios half hour comedy pilot, Sebastian, as the father of star / creator Sebastian Maniscalco. The pilot was exec produced by Greg Garcia.

Danza has been actively touring with his hit cabaret show, Standards & Stories, in which he and his band perform a selection of his favorite standards from the Great American Songbook, while interweaving stories about his life and personal connection to the music. The New York Times raved "Tony's a live wire who tap-dances, plays the ukulele, tells stories and radiates irresistible charm... He exudes the kind of charisma that can't be taught!"

Perhaps best known for his starring roles on two of television's most cherished and long-running series, Taxi and Who's The Boss, Danza has also established himself as a song and dance man. He most recently starred in the critically acclaimed Broadway musical comedy "Honeymoon in Vegas", for which he received rave reviews, with The New York Times calling his performance "A career high... sly genius" and drawing comparisons to Frank Sinatra. Danza also recently co-starred on the big screen in the indi hit DON JON, in which he played Joseph Gordon Levitt's father and received critical acclaim. Among his other credits, Tony has starred on Broadway in the The Producers, A View from the Bridge, and opposite Kevin Spacey in The Iceman Cometh, and starred in beloved films such as Angels In Outfield, She's Out of Control, and Hollywood Knights.

Also exec producing There's Johnny! is Brian Volk-Weiss, Michael Pelmont, Cisco Henson, and Matt Ochacher along with Seeso's Evan Shapiro, Kelsey Balance and Dan Kerstetter. Craig Knizek will serve as Producer. Nuance Productions, Comedy Dynamics, and Rough House will co-produce in partnership with the Carson Estate.

Danza was represented in the deal by CAA and his manager, Dan Farah.
