Tony Award Winner Lithgow To Star In New Season Of Showtime's 'Dexter'

Two Time Tony Award Winner John Lithgow has been cast as a series regular on Showtime's Dexter, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Lithgow joins the hit show for its fourth season. The actor will play "Walter Simmons", also known as "The Trinity Killer" as he always kills in threes. EW describes the role as "an unassuming suburbanite who has been living a dual life as one of America's most prolific and deadliest serial killers. When the mad man relocates to Miami, Dexter becomes obsessed (or inspired?) by his efficient killing methods and ability to evade capture for almost three decades."

EW also reports that Tony Award Winner Keith Carradine will reprise his role as "FBI Special Agent Frank Lundy" for multple episodes.

John Lithgow recently starred in the Broadway revival of Arthur Miller's ALL MY SONS. He also appeared at Lincoln Center in his one man show Stories by Heart. His other NY stage credits include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Changing Room (Tony Award), Mrs. Farnsworth, The Retreat From Moscow and Sweet Smell Of Success (Tony Award) . He won three Emmy Awards for his performance as Dick Solomon on the hit NBC comedy series 3rd Rock From The Sun. His many film credits include two back-to-back Oscar nominations for the films The World According To Garp and Terms of Endearment. He is also the author of seven New York Times best selling children's pictures books.
