Running Wild Films and 5J Media have announced that they will be producing a feature film about Phoenix legend Jack Durant titled Durant's Never Closes. Major casting decisions have been announced, and production will begin this fall in the Phoenix, AZ area.
Durant's Never Closes is a crime/drama and biopic of Jack Durant, a restaurateur, ladies' man, and a mysterious man connected to the mob. From the backwoods of Tennessee to the world of Vegas at the time of Bugsy Siegel, and finally as the owner of his famous steakhouse, Durant is a legend and dynamic character, at once charming, powerful and dangerous. This film tells his story during one single day at his restaurant. Durant's Never Closes is based on the books written by Mabel Leo and the play written by Terry Earp.
Tom Sizemore has been cast in the lead role of Jack Durant. Sizemore is an American film and television actor and producer best known for his roles in Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down, Pearl Harbor, True Romance, Heat, and Natural Born Killers.
Dina Meyer has been cast as Suzie, the love interest of Jack Durant. Meyer is best known for her roles in Starship Troopers and four of the Saw horror movies.
Pam Grier, best known for her roles in Foxy Brown, Coffy, and Quentin Tarantino's Jackie Brown will be playing the role of B.J. in Durant's Never Closes.
Actor/Director Peter Bogdanovich has been cast as George, one of Jack's best friends and a prominent businessman in the Phoenix area. Bogdanovich made such classics as The Last Picture Show, Paper Moon, and What's Up Doc. He also achieved great success in front of the camera in his roles on The Sopranos and Law & Order.
Running Wild Films is in negotiations with other actors, and additional casting decisions will be announced soon.
