According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tim Robbins and Peter Sarsgaard will be joining Ryan Reynolds in the upcoming Green Lantern film.  Based on the DC Comics superhero, the movie will be directed by Martin Campbell and is set to begin filming in New Orleans in March.

Robbins will play Senator Hammond, the disapproving father of the villain, Dr. Hector Hammond, played by Sarsgaard. Hammond becomes infused with psychic powers and must be stopped by HAl Jordan (Ryan Reynolds), who is tasked with keeping peace in the universe.

Robbins is perhaps best known for his portarayals of Nuke in Bull Durham, Andy Dufresne in The Shawshank Redemption, and as Dave Boyle in Mystic River, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Robbins is also co-founder of the Los Angeles-based theater company The Actors Gang.

Sarsgaard made his theatrical debut in the Off-Broadway production of Horton Foote's Laura Dennis.  He made his Broadway debut this year in The Seagull.  Sarsgaard's film credits include Boys Don't Cry, Kinsey, Garden State, Jarhead, and The Dying Gaul.
