Tim Rice ("Jesus Christ Superstar," "Evita") makes his long-awaited return to the musical spotlight as Fathom Events and Omniverse Vision present the legendary lyricist's stage adaptation of "From Here to Eternity." This will mark The First Time that Fathom Events and Omniverse vision have partnered to capture a stage production, which took place in spring 2014 at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London. This three-day special presentation will be shown in select U.S. cinemas on Thursday, October 2 at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, October 5 at 12:55 p.m. and Tuesday, October 7 at 7:30 p.m., all local time. The acclaimed production will be making its Broadway debut in 2015, but theater aficionados won't want to miss their chance to catch this magnificent musical in a larger-than-life, big screen experience first. The three fall showings of "From Here to Eternity" will also feature approximately 20 minutes of behind-the-scenes and making-of footage.

Tickets for "From Here to Eternity" are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com. The event will be presented in nearly 400 select movie theaters nationwide through Fathom's Digital Broadcast Network. For a complete list of theater locations and prices, visit the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).

"I am delighted that our ambitious musical version of this magnificent story is going to be available to cinemas across the U.S.," said Tim Rice. "It's an epic tale with a score to match so it's fantastic that our version will get a big screen release."

Adapted from James Jones' 1951 WW2 classic novel, and set in the South Pacific, "From Here to Eternity" is a gripping tale of illicit love and army life set in 1941 Hawaii, immediately prior to the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Having recently transferred to the base, troubled Private Prewitt (Robert Lonsdale) falls for Lorene (Siubhan Harrison), the kind-hearted escort club girl, while simultaneously his platoon sergeant, Warden (Darius Campbell), embarks on a dangerous affair with his commanding officer's wife, Karen (Rebecca Thornhill), setting the lives of both men on a course they cannot control. As war approaches, the worlds of the four lovers and the soldiers of G Company are dramatically ripped apart.

Captured over two nights and directed for the screen by Nick Morris ("Les Miserables 25th Anniversary Concert" and "Phantom of the Opera 25th Anniversary Concert"), the production was adapted for the stage by Tim Rice (lyrics), Stuart Brayson (music) and Bill Oakes (book). Rice has worked in music, theatre and films since 1965 with productions including "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Evita." He later won two Oscars working with Disney on "The Lion King" and "Aladdin."

"Fathom Events is absolutely delighted to give U.S. audiences the first opportunity to experience 'From Here to Eternity' in movie theaters before it is even available on Broadway," said Shelly Maxwell, executive vice president of Fathom Events. "Musical theater fans are in for an evening they won't soon forget with what Tim Rice has created."
