The Ridgefield Playhouse Film Society Screenwriters Film Series brings actor Treat Williams and writer/director Robert Mrazek for a screening of the humorous and moving film "The Congressman" followed by a Q&A hosted by Ira Joe Fisher, on Friday, November 6 at 7:30pm.
The Congressman is a funny and often touching film with an excellent ensemble cast including George Hamilton, Ryan Merriman and Elizabeth Marvel. It's directed by Jared Martin and Robert Mrazek, a ten-year U.S. Congressman from New York.
The story also marks Robert Mrazek's screenwriting and directorial debut. With the current political climate, Treat Williams portrayal of the Congressman raises the important question of what it means to be an American. The film tells the story of Maine Congressman Charlie Winship who has had a bad day. After being caught on video failing to stand and recite the pledge of allegiance, he knocks out another House member, confronts his angry ex-wife, and faces denunciation by the media for attacking one of the most cherished patriotic symbols in America. As his life spirals out of control, Charlie embarks on a journey to a remote island in the Atlantic whose eccentric inhabitants are in the middle of a shooting war over their fishing grounds.
