Today, New York Women in Communications (NYWICI) announces the honorees of the 2018 Matrix Awardsthe communications industry's most prestigious award, given annually to a short list of extraordinary women who are shaping and shaking the world.
The 2018 Matrix Awards will be emceed by Savannah Guthrie, Co-Anchor of "TODAY" and NBC News Chief Legal Correspondent, and hosted by Interpublic Group during a luncheon at the Sheraton New York Times Square on Monday April 23, 2018. Recognized asone of the top events in New York City, the ceremony is expected to draw more than 1,000 people to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of these trailblazers in the industry. In addition, NYWICI will present their first-ever, Matrix "Incite Award" to three women who, through their writing and body of work, incited action and change for their coverage on sexual misconduct in the workplace.
Previous Matrix Award recipients include Arianna Huffington, Sheryl Sandberg, Tina Fey, Diane Sawyer, Meryl Streep, Gretchen Carlson and Joanna Coles, to name a few. Proceeds from the Matrix Awards go towards a full range of scholarships and educational programs for women, whether they are just beginning or are embarking on a career transition. To date, NYWICI's Foundation, the largest for communications scholarships for women in the country, has given more than $1.5 million dollars in scholarships.
