American Idol finalists Kris Allen and Adam Lambert will be opening up for a number of music legends on the next episode. Lionel Richie, Carlos Santana, Cyndi Lauper, Queen Latifah, Black Eyed Peas and Keith Urban are among the artists scheduled to perform on Wednesday's finale before either Allen or Lambert is crowned the eight season champion.

The New York Daily News has an article detailing the current 'frenzy' over "Idol" standout Lambert. The News states that "there are millions of fans whose passions have been inspired by the unabashedly campy, cheerfully over-the-top Lambert, with his back nail polish, his "guyliner" and that jet-black, asymmetrical mop of hair that has no place in the natural world.

But then, perhaps nothing about Lambert, who will face the late-blooming Arkansas crooner Kris Allen in next week's finale, is truly of this world; all season long, the judges have praised the rocker in terms sometimes touching on the metaphysical." To read more click here.

Previous "Idol" winners David Cook and Carrie Underwood will also sing on the two-night finale. Underwood will perform on Tuesday's episode, which will feature Lambert, a 27-year-old theater actor from San Diego, and Allen, a 23-year-old college student from Conway, Ark., fighting it out for a record contract and the title of "American Idol."

On Wednesday's American Idol, the Top 3 Adam LambertKris Allen and Danny Gokey visited their hometowns in emotional video segments. But one of the boys had to go, America voted and Danny Gokey was sent home, setting up the contest to be between Adam Lambert and Kris Allen

Simon Cowell was cheering Adam Lambert on this week, but the finale will be one for the ages.

The eighth season champ will crowned May 20.

In addition to performing in WICKEDAdam Lambert also had a role in The Ten Commandments and appeared in The Zodiac Show.
