The CW is reteaming with VERONICA MARS' Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero.
Accoding to Deadline, the younger-skewing network has begun developing a television adaptation of DC Comics' iZOMBIE from Warner Bros. TV, with Thomas and Ruggiero writing and executive producing.
The project "is a supernatural crime procedural that centers on a med student-turned-zombie who takes a job in the coroner's office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity. But with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse's memories, and with the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head."
The original comic book series, originally published in 2010, was created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred.
Thomas, the creator of MARS, and Ruggiero, who executive produced the series, just wrapped production earlier this summer on the Kickstarter-funded feature film adaptation of the cult series, which was cancelled by The CW in 2007. Thomas also has a modern-day interpretation of LES MISERABLES with a legal spin in development at Fox.
