The Barbican's Framed Film Festival returns for another weekend of screenings and free workshops and events that celebrates the best cinema from around the world for younger film lovers.
Taking place between Sat 17 Nov - Sun 18 Nov, this year's programme draws together shorts and features, animations and live action, old favourites and brand-new characters - all screened together over one weekend to create a showcase of the best stories made for and about children. Young festival-goers can make a day of it by attending a film and some of the free quality artist- and filmmaker-led creative activities that run between 10-4pm in the cinema foyer spaces.
Highlights include Framed Shorts: Animal Antics, a specially curated shorts programme about an array of delightful animals, a sound effects workshop with the School of Noise, the new international hit My Giraffe - about a young boy and his pet giraffe, and the classic Michel Ocelot animation Princes and Princesses, six captivating stories of love and adventure with an interactive introduction by the artist and animator Reza Ben Gajra. The free Character Corner design workshop gives young festival goers a creative outlet to design and make their own characters from the films.
