Fresh off the success of its New York premiere August 5 as part of the Film Society of Lincoln Center's Sound + Vision series, The 78 Project Movie is headed this weekend to the Windy City for its Chicago premiere on August 16th and 17th at the Music Box Theater's Summer Music Film Festvial. And to round out the month of summer screenings, the Jacob Burns Film Center will screen The 78 Project Movie on August 18th as part of its Sounds of Summer series. Director Alex Steyermark and Producer Lavinia Jones Wright will be present at all three of these screenings for Q&A.
On September 5th The 78 Project creators will launch The 78 Project Movie Official Release Tour with a prestigious event at the Library of Congress, where they will show the film, give a Q&A and cut a record live as part of the Library's Botkin Lecture Series. Continuing on from there, they will appear live at screening events in Los Angeles, CA, San Francisco, CA, Seattle, WA, Portland, OR, Athens, GA, New Orleans, LA, Baton Rouge, LA, Lafayette, LA, Little Rock, AR, Carbondale, IL, Boston, MA, Louisville, KY and more cities to be announced. At many of the screening events The 78 Project creators will cut a record live in the theater with a special guest musician.

In addition to the theatrical screenings, The 78 Project Movie release tour will include a series of live in-store events at Goorin Brothers locations across the country. At Goorin Brothers stores, including locations in Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, New York, Boston and New Orleans, The 78 Project will play their recordings on vinyl and acetate, show video clips, and in some locations will present live musical performances and live record-cuttings.
During the official release tour and beyond, The 78 Project Movie will also be showing nationwide through a partnership with Gathr TheatricalOnDemand®. Using Gathr's innovative system, moviegoing audiences across the country and around the world will be able to request and host screenings of The 78 Project Movie in their hometowns.
