The 39th Annual BANFF World Media Festival Announces 2018 Rockie Awards Program Competition Nominees

The 39th Banff World Media Festival (BANFF) is pleased to announce the full list of nominees for this year's Rockie Awards Program Competition, a celebration and recognition of excellence in television and digital media from around the world. Winners will be announced at the Rockies Program Competition Ceremony, held on Monday, June 11th during the Festival at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Alberta, Canada.

The Rockie Awards are BANFF's flagship awards program, taking place over two days and two events. The Rockie Awards Program Competition is one of the largest awards programs of its kind, juried by an esteemed panel of 115 international industry professionals and covering all major genres. In addition to the Rogers Prize of Excellence for the best in Rockies' Canadian content, all finalists are fêted with 26 awards in the category streams of Documentary & Factual, Arts & Entertainment, Children & Youth, and Scripted.

Celebrated annually on night three of the festival, the hors-concours (out-of competition) Rockie Awards Gala honours outstanding talent and executives from the industry, and the Rockies' Grand Jury Prize for best overall program.

Leading the competition are:

1. British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) - 11 Nominations

2. Netherlands Public Broadcasting (NPO) - 7 nominations

3. Canadian Broadcasting Corporation - 5 Nominations

4. National Geographic, and Sony Pictures Television - 4 nominations each

5. Verizon, ARTE France, Disney/ABC, Discovery Channel and Motion Content Group - 3

nominations each.
