Austin-based production company, Texas Crew Productions, has been nominated for their 22nd Emmy Award for the 2017 IRONMAN World Championships on NBC.
For nearly 40-years the IRONMAN World Championship has been the standard for athletic and mental FORTITUDE - a showcase for amazing personal stories that mirror the Ironman mantra, "anything is possible."
With more than twenty cameras and a crew of nearly 100 people scattered across a 140.6-mile course, Texas Crew Productions collects over 200 hours of footage to produce this iconic sports broadcast. In addition to the 90-minute NBC broadcast, TCP also produced a 3-HR Live broadcast for NBC SN, a 12-HR Live broadcast for Red BULL Media, and a one-hour documentary for international distribution.
"The hard part isn't the effort in Kona," said Executive Producer Eric Begley. "The hard part is the process of weaving these inspiring and gut-wrenching stories seamlessly into a program worthy of its predecessors - programs that have defined resiliency, perseverance, and human potential."
Nominees to be honored and winners announced during the May 8th Ceremony at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City. A list of all the nominees available at emmyonline.com/sports_39th_nominations.
In 2017, TCP had a number of shows on the domestic and international air including The Disappearance of Maura Murray, a 6-part crime series on Oxygen; a 2-HR special for HISTORY called The Dark Files; Emmy-nominated FRIDAY NIGHT TYKES: STEEL COUNTRY for USA Network; Quest for Kona on NBC SN; and the NAACP-Image Award winning documentary The 44 th President: In His Own Words for HISTORY.
TCP is currently in production on its third "30 for 30" documentary for ESPN, a 40th anniversary documentary film about the IRONMAN for NBC, and is in development with four networks on series ideas that will air in late 2018 / early 2019.
