According to Deadline, Oscar winner Terrence Howard has signed on to join Vince Vaughn and Hailee Steinfeld in the upcoming thriller TERM LIFE. Peter Billingsley will direct the film, scripted by A.J. Lieberman, and based on Nick Thornborrow's novel.
TERM LIFE follows a "criminal who takes out an insurance policy on himself to benefit his estranged daughter (Steinfeld). Howard will play Sheriff Braydon, a small-town cop who crosses paths with the pair as they're on the run."
Howard was recently seen in last year's "The Butler," "Prisoners" and "The Best Man Holiday."
In 2008, he made his Broadway debut, playing Brick in an all-African-American production of Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, directed by Debbie Allen and also starring James Earl Jones, Phylicia Rashad and Anika Noni Rose.
Howard will also appear in Fox's limited event series WAYWARD PINES, premiering this summer. He also recently signed on for Fox's upcoming drama pilot EMPIRE.
