Telemundo's "Dueños del Paraiso" (Masters of Paradise) premiere reached a cumulative audience of 3,080,000 total viewers and 1,880,000 adults 18 to 49 on premiere night, according to Nielsen. Starring Kate del Castillo as Anastasia Cardona, the series averaged 2,392,000 total viewers and 1,444,000 adults 18 to 49. The "Dueños del Paraiso" premiere became Telemundo's highest premiere in its history among total viewers and was the #1 Spanish-language program, in its time period, among adults 18 to 34, women 18 to 34 and males 18 to 34. Additionally, the Super Series outperformed ABC's "Forever" among adults 18 to 49 and adults 18 to 34, and CBS' "Persons of Interest" among adults 18 to 34. "Dueños del Paraiso" exemplifies Telemundo's super series concept - scripted drama series that are edgier, action packed and faster paced than traditional novelas.
Locally, the much anticipated premiere ranked #1 among adults 18 to 49, regardless of language, in Los Angeles and Miami and was the #1 Spanish-language program in its time period in Chicago, San Francisco and Denver, in that same demo.
"Dueños del Paraiso is one more example of the success of our new super series format as we continue to evolve the genre," said Luis Silberwasser, President, Telemundo Network. "Following the great performance of our previous super series 'El Señor de los Cielos' and 'Senora Acero' at 10pm, and fueled by Kate del Castillo's top performance and the series' high production values, we believe we are solidifying our leadership positon in the time period with programming that captures audiences by daring to be bold and different."
On a digital front, "Dueños del Paraiso" was the #1 most social Spanish-language program for the night, ranked on Tweets among Hispanic Networks, according to Nielsen Social. Social promotional efforts for the series reached over 24 million people generating over 39 million impressions on Facebook.
An original Telemundo Studios co-production with Television Nacional de Chile, "Dueños del Paraiso" marks Kate del Castillo's return to Spanish-language television following the success of "La Reina Del Sur" (Queen of the South), which became the highest rated program in the network's history. An original story by Pablo Illanes, the series is inspired by real-life events during the height of the 1980s drug trade era in Miami. Kate stars as Anastasia Cardona, the widow of a well-known Mexican drug lord who has become psychologically disturbed by the violence that has surrounded her. When she partners up with two local cocaine traffickers to take on the Santa Norma cartel, they become the target of the so-called "drug wars," transforming the streets of South Florida into a terrifying battlefield.
