NBC DEPORTES presents Week 6 of the Liga MX Torneo Apertura 2015, León vs. Guadalajara live from Estadio León this Saturday, August 22 at 9PM/8C/6P. Viewers can choose to watch the game on TELEMUNDO, NBC UNIVERSO or NBCDeportes.com digital platforms, all of which will feature narration by the award-winning Andrés Cantor, veteran commentator Sammy Sadovnik, and three-time top scorer and Cruz Azul star Carlos Hermosillo.
With five games played, León leads the tournament with 12 points. The team already has four wins under its belt, two of them in away games - the first in Week 1 against Santos and the second last week against Monarcas - and is undefeated at home. At 13, it also shares the position for the most goals with UNAM, and Mauro Boselli is the tournament's top-scorer, with six shots into the net so far. To top it off, the León soccer club celebrates its seventy-first anniversary this Saturday, with citywide festivities planned over the weekend.
Chivas, in contrast, is second to last in the ranking percentage-wise, ahead only of Dorados, a recent addition to first-division league. After losing its first two games, José Manuel de la Torre's squad seemed to be getting on the right track, tying Tigres and beating Morelia, but these bright points were followed by a 3-1 loss in an away game to Toluca. Saturday's game will be an important test for Guadalajara, a club whose storied reputation has been tarnished by these recent setbacks.
León and Guadalajara have a long and intense rivalry; since Winter 1996, they have played each other 18 times in regular season play, resulting in nine wins for Chivas, four for León and five ties. They met most recently during the preseason in Sacramento, California, where they ended up tying 2-2. This next encounter is shaping up as a good opportunity for Juan Antoni Pizzi's team to start evening the balance and for Chivas striker Omar
Bravo to ramp up his goal count.
