Time Inc. (NYSE: TIME) and Telemundo today announced the launch of a new television series, "SOS: Salva Mi Casa," ("SOS: Save My House") premiering today, April 11 at 12:00pm ET/PT on Telemundo. The home improvement show, Time Inc.'s first Spanish-language television program and its first major collaboration with TELEMUNDO, has been picked up for one season.
Each installment of "SOS: Salva Mi Casa" will follow real families in need of room renovations, whether it be transforming a guest room into a nurturing nursery or an office space into a teenage boy's oasis. Host Andrea Minski and general contractor Jose Perez come to the rescue, surprising homeowners to help fulfill the home improvement goals they don't have the skills or the time to achieve.
"We are delighted to be working with Telemundo to create exciting, original programming," said Evelyn Webster, EVP Time Inc. "Time Inc. is expanding in many ways, including the launch of new digital, video and television products, and we're thrilled to add our first Spanish-language TV venture to the mix with SOS: Salva Mi Casa."
GMC, State Farm and The Home Depot have signed on as launch partners for the first season, with multiplatform campaigns encompassing television spots, digital and on-air integrations, and print and online ads in Time Inc.'s People en Español and This Old House. A co-branded Spanish-language site featuring relevant content from Time Inc. will launch in conjunction with the premiere, at www.SOSsalvamicasa.com.
"Hispanics represent one of the fastest-growing demographics of homeowners in the United States," said Maria Lopez Alvarez, Senior Vice President of Reality Programming, TELEMUNDO. "We've built this series on the foundation of Time Inc.'s trusted and well-established properties in order to address the increasing number of Spanish speaking DIYers in need of solid home improvement advice and expertise."
According to The State of Hispanic Homeownership Report, Hispanics represent 56 percent of the total net growth of owner households in the United States since 2010. In addition, Hispanics have accounted for 47 percent of the total net growth of homeowners since 2000.
"SOS: Salva Mi Casa" is produced in association with Moonwater Pictures. THIS OLD HOUSE Editor Scott Omelianuk, television executive Edward J. O'Donnell and Jesus "Chuchi" Rivero serve as executive producers.
