Telemundo to Air First-Ever LATIN AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS Live, 10/8

Telemundo will broadcast the first ever "Latin American Music Awards" live from the prestigious Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 9pm/8c. The awards celebration will honor today's most influential and iconic Latin artists, as voted by the fans in the traditional format of the "American Music Awards," the world's biggest fan-voted award show. The two-hour show will feature performances by chart-topping talent in both English and Spanish, with a one-hour red carpet pre-show special at 8pm/7c. Nominees for the "Latin American Music Awards" will be announced on September 2nd, and fans from the United States and Puerto Rico will be able to place their vote on world class artists. Tickets will go on sale September 2nd through Ticketmaster and the Dolby Theater box office.

Created in 1974 by Dick Clark, the "American Music Awards" is one of the biggest music shows in the world, watched in more than 160 countries. The 2014 edition of the awards show was broadcast LIVE last November from the Nokia Theatre in L.A. The event was hosted by Pitbull and featured over 16 performances from today's hottest artists, including 5 Seconds of Summer, Iggy Azalea, Mary J. Blige, Garth Brooks, Fergie, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Imagine Dragons, Lorde, Nicki Minaj, One Direction and Taylor Swift.

The "Latin American Music Award" nominees are based on key fan interactions with music, including (but not limited to) sales, airplay, streaming and social activity tracked by Billboard through its data partners Nielsen Music and Next Big|Brave Sound. Voting for the "Latin American Music Awards" will be powered by Telescope Inc. ("The Voice," "La Voz Kids," "American Idol," "Premios Tu Mundo," "X-Factor"), the market leader in audience participation and consumer engagement for live television.
