Telemundo Deportes Unveils New Theme Music for 2018 FIFA World Cup Broadcast by Composer Yoav Goren Image

Telemundo Deportes, the exclusive Spanish-language home of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, today unveiled the theme song and music production package for this summer's World Cup broadcast on Telemundo and Universo, "Sueño de Campeones" or "Champions Dream," by Emmy Award winning composer and producer Yoav Goren. "Sueño de Campeones" is an extensive music package supporting Telemundo Deportes' coverage of the most prestigious soccer tournament in the world, featuring 32 teams and a total of 64 matches, played across 12 venues in Russia.

"This is truly a proud and exciting moment for Telemundo Deportes," said Ray Warren, President, Telemundo Deportes. "As a leading provider of sports content in Spanish in the United States we are committed to offer viewers the best, most authentic and epic experience of our World Cup coverage and 'Sueño de Campeones' underscores that commitment."

Recorded in Studio One at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London with an 80-piece orchestra consisting of strings, brass and percussion, "Sueño de Campeones" layers the orchestra to get a bigger sound with a 60-person choir, a guitar and a piano, providing enough range and versatility to be used across Telemundo Deportes' live broadcasts, pre- and post-games and additional World Cup programming.

"I am a huge fan of the beautiful game. I feel that a football match in 90 minutes can reflect so much of life's dramas and happiness, and I wanted my music to capture that broad range of emotions that every fan knows and feels when they cheer on their team," said Goren. "As a weekend player as well as coaching my children's teams, working on 'Sueño de Campeones' allowed for the marriage of two of my deepest passions, music and football, and so I am very grateful and honored to have had the opportunity to create the Telemundo Deportes World Cup Theme song."

The music package was inspired by the passion and beauty of the game while capturing the character and grandeur of the World Cup. '"Sueño de Campeones" is inherently heroic and epic like the stories of the teams and players that make it to a World Cup, and particularly, THE JOURNEY and resilience of the Latin American countries representing Telemundo's core audience. The instrumentation starts acoustically with a guitar and violins and eventually builds in to a full orchestration, mirroring a player's journey from hometown to the largest stadiums and the pinnacle of soccer, the World Cup.

"With the support and experience of NBC Sports Group and in partnership with a composer like Yoav Goren, our World Cup theme music 'Sueño de Campeones' was created to define our World Cup broadcast inspired by the rich, story-telling tradition of our company and produced the highest quality available," added Mario Ruiz, Senior Vice President, Music & Entertainment Projects, Telemundo.

Born in Israel and raised in New York City, Goren was born into a family of artists and was encouraged to study piano. He was heavily influenced first by classical composers, and then by the Beatles and film composers such as Ennio Morricone and Jerry Goldsmith. Upon graduating from New York University, Goren settled in Los Angeles and teamed up the Jeffrey Fayman and founded Immediate Music. His first trailer score was for Universal Pictures "Carlito's Way" in 1993 followed by high profile campaigns for films such as "Star Wars," "Wonder Woman," "Avengers," "X-Men," "Amazing Spider Man" and the entire "Harry Potter" series, and he continues to provide cutting edge music to many of today's major motion picture campaigns. Goren has received various awards throughout the years. In 2007, Goren's work on NBC's "20th Torino Winter Olympic Games" earned him an Emmy Award, and in 2009, he became the first person to ever perform a live orchestral and choral concert of trailer music compositions, as part of his "Trailer Music Live" performance series.
