Telemundo Deportes Marks 100 Days from FIFA Confederations Cup with Special Programming

Telemundo's countdown to the FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017 begins this Thursday, March 9 - a 100 days from the tournament's kickoff with special content planned across the network's shows and on Telemundo Deportes' digital platforms.

Programming highlights:

  • "Titulares y Más," Telemundo's daily sports news and entertainment show will feature special guests including former Mexico National team star Pavel Pardo to talk about his experience representing Mexico at the Confederations Cup. Hosted by Rosina Rosso and Karim Mendiburu, the show will focus on the tournament's latest news and updates, while presenting fun segments including an appearance of the irreverent character "El Hijo de Putin." As part of the countdown, "Titulares y Más" also sat down with Chilean midfielder Jean Beausejour who played with Club America in Mexico and will be in the Chilean squad this summer at Confederations Cup. The interview will air as part of Sunday's show, hosted by Ana Jurka and Miguel Gurwitz.
  • Special segments around the Confederations Cup and the host country will also air across a variety of Telemundo and Universo programs:
    • "Un Nuevo Día" will celebrate THE 100 day countdown with fun segments during the show, latest news around the event and a special report on the controversy around the ticket sales.
    • Ana Jurka will present a special report on the four host cities - Saint Petersburg, Sochi, Kazan and Moscow- on "Al Rojo Vivo". The report takes viewers to each city, their history, attractions and what makes them special.
    • "Noticias Telemundo" will feature a special report by Copan Alvarez focused on the stadiums - Zenit Stadium, Sparktak Stadium, Kazan Arena and Fisht Stadium-. The piece highlights the investments, technology and what makes these stadiums unique.
  • On digital, Confederations Cup will take over Telemundo.com and Telemundo Deportes app throughout the day with content related to the tournament. Telemundodeportes.com's content will include an extensive feature around THE 100 days out that includes videos and highlights, and will provide an overview of the tournament including its history, teams, players, rules, schedule, venues and much more.
  • A "100th Day Out" countdown graphic will be featured on-screen throughout Telemundo and Universo programming.

The FIFA Confederations Cup Russia takes place June 17- July 2. Since 2005, the tournament has been held in the nation that will host the FIFA World Cup™ in the following year, in this case acting as a lead up to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. The tournament is played by eight teams including the six FIFA Confederations Champions, the host country and the winner of the previous FIFA World Cup™. The Mexican national team will be playing against Portugal, New Zealand and Russia, in Group A. Group B will showcase Germany, Chile, Australia and Cameroon.
