Telemundo announced today it kicked off the casting process for "Yo Soy El Artista," a new musical competition and weekend Primetime series to premiere in the fall. Starting this week, interested participants will be able to apply at yosoyelartista.com and show producers will hold casting sessions in May across top markets including Miami, Puerto Rico, Chicago, Houston, New York and Los Angeles.
"With 'Yo Soy El Artista' we are looking for uniquely talented individuals who can sing, dance and perform; what we call a true Artist," said Jesus Torres-Viera, Executive
Vice President of Programming at Telemundo. "Fulfilling the dream of becoming the Artist, means overcoming multiple challenges, demanding auditions and long days of hard work. We are looking for truly committed contestants."
As announced at the NATPE Market & Conference earlier this year,
Telemundo and Spain's Reset TV partnered to jointly own, develop, produce and distribute this13-episode, two-hour reality series based on an original concept from Reset TV founders Toni Cruz and José Maria Mainat, the creators of popular entertainment formats such as Cronicas Marcianas (Martian Chronicles), Mira Quien Baila (Look Who's Dancing) and Operacion Triunfo (Star Academy), among others.
"We are delighted to kick-off the casting process for El Artista," said Toni Cruz, Managing Director and Executive Producer of Reset TV Corp. "Our goal is to produce an innovative concept of talent reality competition that would contribute to bring a different way of watching television in Spanish-language moving forward. To be the ultimate Artist, it takes more than great singing ability or dance skills. We are looking for a performer with a full range of ability, star quality, appeal and showmanship".
