NBCSN and Universal Sports Network will present four women's ice hockey exhibitions between Team USA and Team Canada from Dec. 12 through Dec. 30, in both countries' final preparation matches before the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. Universal Sports will begin its coverage of the exhibition series tonight at 9 p.m. ET from the Markin MacPhail Centre in Calgary, Alberta. NBCSN's coverage begins Friday, Dec. 20 at 8 p.m. ET from Ralph Englestad Arena in Grand Forks, N.D.
Team
USA is trying to regain its momentum following three losses to Canada earlier this fall, continuing a fierce rivalry between the top two women's ice hockey teams in the world. Team
USA is the reigning world champion and is expected to challenge Canada, three-time defending Olympic champion, for gold in February at the Sochi Games. Exhibitions played in the U.S. are part of
USA Hockey's "Bring on the World Tour" featuring the U.S. Women's National Team.
The final 2014 U.S. Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team, which will include 18 forwards/defensemen and three goaltenders, will be announced on January 1, 2014 at the NHL Winter Classic in Detroit, Mich.
