As first reported on reuters.com, the upcoming film STRETCH ARMSTRONG, based on a popular toy from the 1970's, will have to go on without its original star, Taylor Lautner. Lautner has dropped out of the project due to a scheduling conflict.
Universal Pictures originally announced the project, written by Steve Oedekerk and produced by Brian Grazer, over three years ago. The film was to be developed in partnership with Hasbro, the toy company which produced the 13-inch, muscled action doll who could be stretched to as much as four feet tall. In 2010, it was announced that Lautner would be starring in the film.
Now, Hasbro and Relativity Media have announced that the film is set for an April 11, 2014 relesase date. According to the report, a new cast will be revealed in the near future.
