Taye Diggs Thwarts Home Invasion; Captures Suspect

TMZ reports that Taye Diggs single-handedly thwarted a home invasion last night, shortly after returning home from the SAG Awards.

According to the report, the Private Practice star was at his home last evening when an intruder broke in just after 11:00 pm. After being confronted, the man attempted to flee the scene but was chased by Diggs who eventually caught up with him and held him down until law enforcement arrived. Another suspect, who was behind the wheel of the get away car, managed to escape.

No further details have been released at this time.

Diggs made his Broadway debut in the ensemble cast of the 1994 Tony Award-winning revival of the musical Carousel. He is best known for his roles in the Broadway musical Rent, the motion picture How Stella Got Her Groove Back, and the television series Private Practice. He is married to actress and singer Idina Menzel.
