Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, Deborah Chow and Dave Filoni are set to direct the first Star Wars live-action series, The Mandalorian, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The eight-episode show will air on Disney's new streaming service in 2019 with Jon Favreau executive producing along with Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson and Filoni.
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
Filoni will direct the first episode. Waititi is an actor who directed Thor: Ragnarok. Chow has worked on many television shows like Reign and Fear the Walking Dead to Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and Lost in Space.
Howard is best known for in movies like Jurassic World and The Help. Famuyiwa drew acclaim for his coming-of-age comedy Dope.
