TV5MONDE USA, America's only 24/7 French language entertainment channel, has scheduled the world television premiere of the inaugural recipient of the 2017 French Culture Film Grant - Le Grand Remix - at 8:30pm/ET-5:30pm/PT on March 21st as part of its annual month-long Mois de la Francophonie celebration. French Culture Film Grant is the result of a partnership formed last year between #CreateLouisiana and TV5MONDE USA to celebrate Louisiana-based filmmakers and to inspire them to create groundbreaking new films showcasing French culture, the history of Louisiana and local acting talent.
A narrative film, Le Grand Remix, which was shot entirely in New Orleans, focuses on Casse-Tête and Josephine, two francophone New Orleans denizens facing an immigration dilemma. Josephine (Marie Ba) is forced to choose between family ties back in AFRICA and her French immersion school teacher life in New Orleans. When a former student, Vietnamese-American DJ Casse-Tête (Chloe Nelson), spins a blend of French Touch and Cajun cowboy music, Josephine loses herself to dance. Sharing visions of how they imagine their worlds could be, each young woman inspires the other to forge ahead and brave her own reality.
Said TV5MONDE USA Chief Operating Officer Patrice Courtaban, "TV5MONDE USA is thrilled to bring Le Grand Remix to a national television audience. This moment in time was what we had in mind when deciding to become the lead French Culture Film Grant partner." He added, "We are also quite pleased to provide our viewers with another month-long celebration of all things Francophonie with the special programming, including powerful and illuminating documentaries, we'll air under the Mois de la Francophonie banner."
Our channel is honored to simultaneously celebrate the creativity of Louisiana filmmakers and its rich francophone history belonging to the state of Louisiana."
