TV One offers a comedic look about acceptance and the importance of family with the television debut of new original movie A WEEKEND WITH THE FAMILY this Sunday, July 17 at 7pm E.T. The film follows Travis Stankershet (Marques Houston, You Got Served, Sister-Sister) a young attorney who looks to gain a position at a prestigious law firm. Travis' loving girlfriend Courtney Clancy (Karrueche Tran, Fear Files, Single Ladies) decides to arrange a surprise family weekend get-together, however plans blow up with the arrival of his outlandish family, the Stankershets.

Co-starring as Travis's parents are Wendy Raquel Robinson (Here We Go Again,The Game) as Nip Stankershet, Clifton Powell (Next Friday, Ray) as Dingo Stankershet, playing Courtney's parents are Dorien Wilson (The Parkers, Sister-Sister) as John Clancy and Suzanne Whang as Sue Clancy. The ensemble cast includes Shondrella Avery (Napoleon Dynamite, Deja Vu), Black Thomas (Stomp The Yard, Step Up 2: The Streets), Chantel Jeffries, Tammy Townsend (Disney Channel's K.C. Undercover), Jarell "J-Boog" Houston (You Got Served, B2K).

In the film the star-crossed lovers struggle to hold onto their relationship all while their two families wage war in an explosion of hilarity. Trying to blend a family with cultural and ideological differences is much harder than they anticipated. When Far East customs come up against the salt of the earth folks from the Deep South, hilarity ensues. In the end, Travis must find a way to make the two families peacefully co-exist long enough for him to propose to the woman he loves.

A Weekend With THE FAMILY was directed by Christopher B. Stokes Silent Partner Ent Group. Written by Christopher B. Stokes and Chaz Echols. Robyn Greene Arrington is vice president of original programming; and D'Angela Proctor is head of original programming.
