On Thursday June 23rd, Truth Slash Fiction, a television pilot about a group of high schoolers who write gay erotic fan fiction about their favorite boyband will make its premiere at SeriesFest in Denver. The pilot features original pop music, fantasy sequences and performances by Broadway favorites Matt Doyle, Daniel Quadrino and Tony-winner Cady Huffman, among others.

Inspired by a real and burgeoning community of straight women and girls who write gay erotic fan fiction ("slash fiction") about One Direction, the series focuses on 16-year-old Emma Jacobs (Jordyn DiNatale) as she attempts to survive the sometimes painful, sometimes hilarious indignities of adolescence, finally finding community in a writer's group of likeminded outsiders.

The kids in the writer's group are much like your typical teenage creatives, except for one thing: the stories they write are all gay erotic fan fiction (or "slash fiction") about their favorite boyband, TRUTH. With a unique style that combines the grit of real-life high school with OUTRAGEOUS fantasy sequences, TRUTH SLASH FICTION is a coming-of-age story for 2016-a dramedy about love, sex, friendship and the songs that provide a soundtrack to it all.

"Our characters represent what we find so inspiring about slash fiction writers," says writer Charlie Sohne, "they're wildly inventive, funny and self-aware, and they maintain their BELIEF in true love and romance, even in the face of the often disappointing reality of what many high school sexual encounters actually are."

Says director Daniel Schloss: "Fifty Shades of Grey brought an awareness about the wide reach and appeal of a particular genre of fan fiction, but the One Direction slash fiction community is just as vibrant -- and the stories they produce are often much more progressive than you see in mainstream literature. It was important to us to get the tone right- and we were helped tremendously in this by our incredible cast."

Truth Slash Fiction features performances by Jordyn Dinatale, Yainis Ynoa, Philippe Arroyo, Sam Varthos, Christy Altomare, Matt Doyle, Daniel Quadrino, Troy Iwata, Magnus Tonning Riise, Tyler Reid, Connor Russell, Melanie Hinkle, Sarah Mezzanotte and Cady Huffman.
