Three years ago, TNT brought viewers one of the most unique drama series on television: SAVING GRACE. Starring Oscar(R)-winning actress Holly Hunter, the series focuses on gutsy Oklahoma City Police Det. Grace Hanadarko, a woman who holds nothing back, whether on the job or in her personal life. This spring, Grace's extraordinary story will culminate in nine final episodes on Mondays at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), beginning March 29.
SAVING GRACE follows Hunter's Grace Hanadarko as she investigates brutal crimes while also trying to navigate her increasingly unusual life. Grace lives passionately, but her hard and fast lifestyle is often questioned by her unconventional last-chance angel, Earl (Leon Rippy Deadwood), whose interaction and occasional interference in her life is, according to him, all part of God's master plan.
SAVING GRACE creator Nancy Miller (Any Day Now) promises the final nine episodes of the show will be what she calls, "A wild and exciting ride." And when all is said and done, she knows exactly what she wants viewers to feel. "I want them to come away thinking this was a series that constantly surprised them; made them laugh, cry and think; and gave them Holly Hunter in a character that broke new ground for women on television."
In last summer's episodes, Earl worked to create a connection between Grace and a young addict named Neely (Yaani King The Prince & Me), whose life Grace saved when Neely attempted to commit suicide by jumping off a building, dragging Grace down with her. When Neely and Grace survive inexplicably, Neely reveals to the world that they have an angel. While trying to figure out Earl's plans, Grace has also provided firm support for her best friend, criminalist Rhetta Rodriguez (Laura San Giacomo Just Shoot Me), who is also trying to pick up the pieces after losing her family home and dealing with her husband's infidelity.
Grace's circle also includes her conflicted relationship with her partner, Ham (Kenneth Johnson The Shield), whose grief she helped soothe after the death of his brother in Afghanistan; Kate Perry (Lorraine Toussaint Any Day Now), with whom Grace once worked vice; her fellow detectives, Butch Ada (Bailey Chase Las Vegas) and Bobby Stillwater (Gregory Cruz Criminal Minds); and admiring nephew, Clay (Dylan Minnette Prison Break), who is a member of the police department's Explorers youth program.
In the final season, Grace is forced to examine the possibility that her life has a divine purpose. Among the storylines the final nine episodes will explore will be a tragic accident that will change Grace's life, a new phase in Grace's relationship with Ham, a major life change for Perry and secret revelations about Butch's past. All the while, Earl will continue to be a part of Grace's life as he steers her towards a destiny even he doesn't understand fully.
For its first season in 2007, SAVING GRACE was ad-supported cable's top new series of the year. Last summer, the show averaged more than 3.7 million viewers and ranked as ad-supported cable's #1 show in its time period among viewers, households, adults 25-54 and women 25-54.
Hunter's acclaimed performance has earned two Emmy(R) nominations, three Screen Actors Guild Award(R) nominations and a People's Choice Award(R) nomination. Her performance has also scored a Gracie Allen Award from American Women in Radio and Television and a Lucy Award from Women in Film. In addition, the show's theme song by Everlast earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Main Title Music, and Nancy Miller took home a Gracie Allen Award for her work as creator, writer and executive producer.
SAVING GRACE comes to TNT from Fox Television Studios. In addition to Nancy Miller and Holly Hunter, the show's executive producers are Gary A. Randall (Any Day Now, Leaving L.A.) and Artie Mandelberg (Leaving L.A., Mr. & Mrs. Smith).
