In a gripping new tale, airing Saturday, September 8 at 8 PM ET/PT, TLC's special hour long documentary 9/11 EMERGENCY ROOM, tracks the events of paramedics, doctors, nurses and survivors unaware their lives were about to change forever.

With clogged roads and countless wounded victims, Downtown community hospital, deemed too small for New York's official disaster plan, suddenly became the epicenter of a war zone on September 11. And across the Hudson, numerous boats full of evacuees and wounded from all of lower Manhattan sailed to an emergency field hospital hastily set up on a New Jersey pier.

Viewers are introduced to the scene of the pier, where medicines and supplies were completely depleted, but all lives were saved. We hear the story of a plastic surgeon turned ER operator who ends up treating one of the most extreme wounds of the day when a woman is practically cut in half. Finally, we are told an extraordinary story of a woman who crashes thirty stories in an elevator, suffers from multiple rib fractures and a punctured and collapsed lung but has to walk to the hospital. With the rule book thrown aside, each individual of the 9/11 ER demonstrates a quiet resilience as they recount their stories.
