On Sunday, May 16 at 8 PM ET/PT, TLC will unveil two astonishing one-hour documentaries that push the limits of the human body with PARALYZED AND PREGNANT: 4 YEARS LATER - a follow up to the 2006 special PARALYZED AND PREGNANT - and PREGNANT AT 70.
When Michelle Carston was 23 years old, she dove into shallow water off the coast of Mexico and broke her neck at the C5 vertebrae - an accident that changed her life forever and sent her to a wheelchair as a quadriplegic. Thirteen years later, Michelle and her husband Peter gave birth to their first born son showcased in the 2006 TLC special, PARALYZED AND PREGNANT. Now, four years later, Michelle is in the process of a painful divorce and has to learn how to co-parent in order to raise her 4-year-old son with her ex. Juggling her child, personal life and daily tasks reclined in her bed or in her wheelchair, Michelle demonstrates profound courage while uncertain about her own fate, not knowing if she'll ever sit up again or be able to hold her son without assistance. Viewers will witness her extraordinary journey from pregnancy to parenting in PARALYZED AND PREGNANT: 4 YEARS LATER premiering Sunday, May 16 at 8 PM (ET/PT).
There are a growing number of older women around the world defying nature and pushing biological boundaries further and further. The world's oldest mother, Rajo Devi from Delhi, was delighted that modern fertility treatment enabled her to have her first child in her early 70s after 50 years of marriage. Likewise, Sue Tollefesen was thrilled when she became Britain's oldest mum at the age of 57. In America, blind mother Janise Wulf gave birth when she was 59 and three years later delivered another son. Meet the mothers prepared to push their own limits for the love of a child with the help of IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) in PREGNANT AT 70, premiering Sunday, May 16 at 9 PM (ET/PT).
PARALYZED AND PREGNANT: 4 YEARS LATER is produced by Discovery Studios.
PREGNANT AT 70 is produced by ITV Global Entertainment.
