According to The Hollywood Reporter, TLC has cancelled its reality series ALL AMERICAN MUSLIM after one season on the air.
The docuseries drew 1.7 million viewers initially but viewership declined to 900,000 by its December 18th finale. The show received mostly positive reviews but caused a controversy with the Florida Family Association who called it "propaganda that riskily hides the Islamic agenda's clear and present danger to American liberties and traditional values."
The organization called upon advertisers to boycott the show. Among the companies who pulled their ads was the Loew's retail chain which commented, "We understand the program raised concerns, complaints or issues from multiple sides of the viewer spectrum, which we found after doing research of news articles and blogs covering the show. We based our decision to pull the advertising on this research and after hearing the concerns we received through emails, calls, through social media and in news reports."
The reality show followed members of a Muslim community in Dearborn, Michigan - home to the largest mosque in the United States. Each episode offered an intimate look at the customs and celebrations, misconceptions and conflicts these families face outside and within their own community.
