Joe Conley, best known to TV audiences as the local storekeeper on TV's The Waltons, passed away on Sunday, July 8 at age 85. According to EW.com, the actor's wife, Louise Conley, revealed that her husband died at a care facility in Southern California due to complications from dementia.
Conley was born in Buffalo, New York and began his acting career after returning from military service in Korea. He was married and divorced to Jacqueline Stakes, with whom he had two children. In 1969, he married Louise Teecher with whom he had two children .
He is best known for his role as storekeeper "Ike Godsey" in The Waltons opposite Ronnie Claire Edwards, who portrayed the bossy wife Corabeth Walton Godsey. In 2009, Conley published his autobiography, "Ike Godsey of Walton's Mountain."
Conley is survived by his wife, three daughters and a son.
