Last night's episode of THE VOICE was packed with powerful voices (obviously), memorable performances and as always, the fun banter between the coaches. But tonight, all of that fun turned to drama, stress and Instant Saves...The Results Show! Tonight the Top 12 dwindled to the Top 10, and I've recapped all of the action for you!
The night started with an awesome group performance from Team Gwen. "The Tide is High" is one of those songs that always puts me in a good mood (mostly because it reminds me of THE LIZZIE MCGUIRE MOVIE, but that's irrelevant). After the performance, it was revealed that the first two people saved were Matt McAndrew from Team Adam and Anita Antoinette from Team Gwen. We also learned that tonight the audience will be able to participate in the Instant Save which will lock in the season's final wild card contestant.
When the show returned, Carson talked to the coaches about the strength of last night's performances. I have to agree with them all-last night had some of the most impressive vocal performances I've seen on the show in a long time, so props to all f the contestants on a great job! We also found out that Team Pharrell's DaNica Shirey and Team Blake's Craig Wayne Boyd are part of the Top 10.
Guest performer Ella Henderson sang her hit "Ghost," which was so great, especially because I didn't really like the song until hearing her do it live tonight. After her performance, the eliminations continued, saving Damian and Reagan James from Team Adam and Team Blake, respectively.
When the show returned, it was Blake's turn to take the stage with his team. The trio, along with their coach, gave viewers a wonderful performance of "Sad Songs Say So Much." Afterwards, three more contestants were labeled "Safe": Taylor John Williams (Team Gwen), Chris Jamison (Team Adam), and Luke Wade (Team Pharrell). This leaves Sugar Joans from Team Pharrell, Jessie Pitts from Team Blake, and Ryan Sill from Team Gwen as the bottom three, which means they will have one last chance to have America vote for their safety.
Jessie Pitts started the "Battle For Safety" (that's what I'm calling it) with a country infused performance of Sara Bareilles's "Gravity." I thought it was such a pretty rendition of the song. Next was Sugar Joans who boldly took on the Whitney Houston classic "I Wanna Dance With Somebody." Personally I don't think the song choice did her vocals any favors, but it wasn't bad at all. Ryan Sill sang the hell out of Extreme's "More Than Words." If I have it my way, Ryan would win this save.
After America's Instant Save tweets, the Top 10 was completed with Ryan Sill as the final member. Be sure to tune in next week when the Top 10 continue to perform for your votes to be crowned Season 7's THE VOICE champion! THE VOICE airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC.
